History of Toyota Proace EV 75kW
The Toyota Proace is a light commercial vehicle from Toyota that was introduced in 2013 as the successor to the Toyota Hiace. It was based on the Citroën Dispatch, Peugeot Expert and Vauxhall Vivaro and has been since 2013 when the name Proace first appeared.
Built in France, under a joint agreement with Citroën and Peugeot, the Toyota Proace is almost identical to the Dispatch and Expert. Unlike its French counterparts, however, the Proace was launched with a more comprehensive five-year 100,000-mile warranty.
The Toyota ProAce is available in passenger and cargo versions and is a twin of Groupe PSA’s Toyota-branded electric vans. Its electric counterpart comes with two battery options, 50 kWh and 75 kWh, with the latter variant’s WLTP range of up to 330 km.
It is based on the third and latest generation Dispatch/Expert platform, making it a competitor for other titans of the segment such as the Volkswagen Transporter, Ford Transit Custom, and Mercedes Vito.
With its own distinctive look, a shared interior and cleaner engines, it is identical to the Partner, Dispatch, Vivaro and Proace from the bonnet to the headlights. The rear is an improved version of the previous van, while the front is based on Peugeot and Citroen’s Efficient Modular Platform 2 for passenger cars.
In 2021, the Japanese brand unveiled its first all-electric cargo vehicle under the Toyota brand in Europe. The Proace Electric is aimed at fleets and small businesses that need a powerful, reliable means of transport to reach the growing number of urban low- and zero-emission zones, as well as customers looking to improve their environmental profile.
Since its launch, the Toyota Proace EV has found great favour with businesses in European markets.
