This newly innovated SUV delivers cutting-edge technology and quality comfort for five, all wrapped in a dynamic and sophisticated design.
Powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine, the Harrier produces 131 kW, paired with an e-CVT transmission type. It produces a smooth and strong acceleration with its 178 PS and 221 Nm of torque, equipped with a 55-litre fuel tank capacity.
Aside from its new engine, Toyota also made sure that its pride in safety remains intact in this model. The advanced Toyota Safety Sense comes standard in the Harrier, featuring its Pre-Collision System and the newly integrated Bicyclist Detection capability.
Lane Departure Alert, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beams completes the safety package, ensuring that choosing the Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid is a smart choice.
Special Features of the Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid
Smarter Way to Drive
Free onboard, a specialized key with a car name ornament provides features such as its push-button start, hands-free liftgate operation, and keyless entry and ignition.
Pressing the icon of an open lock once unlocks the driver’s door only while pressing it twice unlocks all the doors. Simply pressing the key button with the lock icon will lock the vehicle.
Personalized Multi-Function Steering Wheel
Genuine leather is wrapped around the piano black 3-spoke steering wheel, embellished with satin plating.
Driving the Harrier becomes more personalized and convenient as it comes with several functionalities, such as its electric power steering.
With its auto tilt-away & return function, you can easily change your preferred driving position.
The steering wheel is also multi-functional, offering control options of the Toyota Safety Sense features directly on the wheels. It also comes with voice recognition and a hands-free system.
First-Class Comfort Experience
Its fully automatic air conditioning system functions extensively as both front, and rear areas are provided with adjustable vents, allowing the cold air to circulate evenly and provide a quality comfort experience.
The air ventilation is always clean and safe, thanks to the integrated Nanoe X system. This feature employs fine particle ions produced from moisture in the air to shape small particles from electrically charged water molecules.
These water molecules that are filled with OH radicals suppress the activity of bacteria, pollen, mould, and viruses in the air while also helping to eliminate odours.
Exquisite Rear Design
The Harrier presents a Jaguar-like design as it shows off its angular rear end, embellished by its black rear roof spoiler. Its thin tail lamps also join this exquisite layout, matching the rear bumper plated garnish and the exclusive Hybrid emblem.
Exceptional Hybrid Technology
Strong and smooth acceleration is always at hand with the Harrier’s responsive hybrid powertrain flawlessly fitted in the high torque of a battery-powered electric motor.
Delivering a truly impressive and efficient driving performance is owed to the motor powered by a petrol-driven combustion engine.
Toyota Safety Sense
It’s no surprise that this Toyota model takes safety very seriously, evident with its Toyota Safety Sense feature. Its collision avoidance support types include assistance for day-and-night pedestrians and day bicycle drivers.
Integrated with detection function, these features combine the high-end capability of both millimetre wave radar and monocular camera systems.
The Lane Tracing Assist also helps keep Harrier centred in its lane while the radar cruise control is operating, completing the safety package with its adaptive high beam.
Interior of the Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid
Finely Crafted and Stylized
The Harrier makes a strong statement the moment you open the doors, welcoming you with its first-class soft-touch environment. The interior employs tactile synthetic leather, creating the frame of a natural-looking silhouette covered in thick leather.
Expanding out from its instrument panel to the door trims on either side, the luxurious and full dashboard displays a generous size, blanketing the occupants.
Its centre console displays a wide wrap-over design constructed around the idea of a horse’s saddle. Completing the look of the Harrier 2.5G Hybrid are the high-technology and multi-functional features integrated on the centre dashboard and steering wheel.
Upscaled Digital Displays
With standard compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 8-inch Audio Multimedia platform gives various helpful features for your desired connectivity and entertainment.
A hands-free and audio Bluetooth compatibility, AM/FM tuner with wide FM compatibility, USB input, and SmartDeviceLink are all integrated and matched with the 6 speakers for a rich sound experience.
Helping you to ensure that every key driving information is easy to see and understand, the 7-inch TFT color multi-information display is always at hand partnered with the digitally displayed Optitron meter.
A perfect feature when your arms are full, this feature can be operated remotely with the Harrier’s smart key fob.
You can also push a button from the driver’s seat to activate it, allowing an electric motor to raise and/or lower the tailgate. Another bonus from this feature is that you won’t get your hands dirty or leave fingerprints.
6:4 Split Folding Rear Seat
Also called a 60:40 ratio split seat, the rear seats can be split-folded either 100%, 60%, or 40% of the rear seat, allowing you to have several options in fitting in both passengers and luggage.
You can get more combinations of passenger and luggage seating, such as when odd-shaped luggage, like a bicycle, for instance, is to be accommodated.
In Dry or Wet Season
Toyota’s Intelligent Clearance Sonar is an innovative feature that comes standard in the Harrier, making your navigation of tight and challenging spaces safer and easier at low speeds.
Another feature also comes in handy, especially during foul weather. Rain-sensing Washer Link front wiper automatically detects precipitation from mist to rainfalls and automatically adjusts, switches on, and off the wipers accordingly.
SRS Airbag Package and ISOFIX Feature
Designed to automatically inflate in the case of a sudden impact or deceleration force that would signal a collision, the Harrier’s SRS Airbag package is complete for the driver and passengers.
Integrated knee airbags, side airbags, and SRS curtain shield airbags both in the front and rear are fully prepared for any potential danger.
Another small but impactful feature is the general-purpose ISOFIX feature that is compatible with child seat fixing, allowing you to lessen the risk of fitting your car seat wrong with its fast and easy installation approach.
Exterior of the Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid
Simple but Sleek
From its dashing projector LED headlamps to its multi-spoke aluminium wheels, the outside features of this fourth-generation Toyota car displays both simplicity and sophistication.
Its distinctly thin LED rear lamps extend entirely inwards to the centrally fixed brand logo.
Stronger but Lighter
Stronger than the traditional steel wheels, it’s also naturally slicker and easier to polish, thereby improving the appearance of this mid-size SUV.
Its multi-spoke design adds up to the sporty flair of the Harrier, matching the noticeable configurations from front to back.
Its stronger build gives you the chance to carry heavy loads, while its lighter weight provides a smoother and more luxurious ride as they strike less intensely when you hit a bump or a dip.
While removing unclean air, the ellipse-shaped exhaust tips of the Harrier also displays a balanced and almost-invisible look on the rear profile.
With the LED high-mount stop lamp and a centre-positioned Toyota logo, the two exhaust tips very down below harmonize every position at the back.
High-Quality LED Features
From front to back, the Harrier delivers full quality performance for your road safety, owing to its extensive set of LED features.
Its projector-type LED headlamp has an auto-levelling function while having an LED daytime running lamp, LED clearance lamp, and LED turn lamp as standard features.
Whether you’re driving in foul weather or a busy and crowded street, the LED front fog lights and LED high mount stop lamp will be your companion.
Electric Parking Brake
A new system that functions differently than the traditional parking brakes, the electric parking brake system of Toyota uses a foot pedal or lever to secure the Harrier. This can work automatically by programming the feature based on the shifting position of the car.
Another standard feature in this system is the Brake Hold, which automatically holds braking for you when you do a complete stop and will keep holding it until the accelerator has been pressed again.
Electronically Controlled Braking System
Developed exclusively for Toyota’s Lexus and Hybrid models, it’s a ‘brake-by-wire’ system that translates the pressure in the brake pedal into electric signals that help provide optimized and precise braking in almost any traction situation.
When needed, the electronic control delivers quick brake response, assisting correct slides before they might take place.

History of Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid
Since December 1997, the Toyota Harrier is already sold in Japan and once became an exclusive car to Toyopet Store Japanese dealerships. When it was exported in some markets, it faced a rebadged process and was called Lexus RX until July 2013. The Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid is now part of the fourth generation of Toyota’s mid-size crossover SUV family. Its second-generation model was launched in 2003, joined by the export of the Lexus version.
In 2008, the third-generation RX arrived, while the Harrier continued its unchanged second-generation configuration. It gained its revamping in 2013 when it became an independent model line built on a sole platform from the RX. Since then, the Harrier received the same platform as the RAV4 but keeping a visual connection with the RX.
Named from a widely-known bird in Japan, the Harrier is evidently a work of a Japanese car brand. The Eastern Marsh Harrier, a bird of prey, is a commonly sighted bird in Hokkaido and northern Honshu. As a new member of the fourth-generation, the Toyota Harrier was first introduced and marketed in Japan but was later on found to be marketed globally, such as in North America.
In North America, the Toyota Harrier has been given a new name – the 2021 Toyota Venza. It’s the first time for Toyota to produce this compact crossover SUV with a hybrid option. The Toyota Harrier 2.5G Hybrid comes first in this lineup. Power by a 2.5-litre petrol engine that produces 131 kW, this model is also paired with an electric continuously variable transmission. Boasting an acceleration with 178 PS and 221 Nm of torque, the Harrier 2.5G Hybrid is also equipped with a 55-litre fuel tank capacity and a combined fuel consumption rate of 4.4 L / 100 km.
In April this year, the new Toyota Harrier was officially launched and went on sale in June 2020. While Toyota Venza in North America is offered in LE, XLE, and Limited trims, the Toyota Harrier is offered in 2.0G Petrol and 2.5G Hybrid variants. Evidently, the largest markets for the Toyota Harrier would be the United States, followed by Japan. However, it is also already marketed in some Asian regions and countries such as Malaysia and Singapore.
