The 2020 Toyota GR Supra
The new Toyota GR Supra is back with a vengeance after an absence of 17 years. Now into its fifth generation, the Supra is a collaboration between Toyota and BMW and it’s based on the new BMW Z4.
The new Supra is absolutely captivating. Its design is packed with generous curves and daring shapes while providing optimum downforce and coefficient of drag.
Twin 90mm exhausts tips and aero tested rear diffuser catch the eye from the rear while its sculpted front end with two-level, 6-lens LED headlights is instantly mesmerizing. Then there is the unique double-bubble roof, inspired by the classic Toyota 2000 GT, and the brushwork “Supra” logo found at the back.
The new Toyota GR Supra’s interior is just as gorgeous. It’s an ideal blend of form, function, and beauty and sporting inspired touches to maximize enjoyment during every drive. The sports seats offer deep side bolsters and high-grip material for maximum hold while 14-way power adjustment function ensures the perfect driving position.
In front of the driver, Head-Up Display (HUD), 8.8-inch Toyota Touch 2 high-res display (3D tachometer, gear selection, and suggested gear) and leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters take center stage. Elsewhere, the Supra Command dial enables the access to multimedia features while a boot area of over 280 litres is more than ample for a weekend getaway.
Engine and Performance
The Supra 3.0 Pro is propelled by a turbocharged 3-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine which sends its maximum power and torque of 340 bhp and 500 Nm to the rear wheels via a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox that’s optimized for super-swift gearshifts.
At full tilt, it demolishes the century dash in 4.3 seconds. Armed with Brembo four-piston calipers and vented 348mm discs up front, super-strong braking performance is always available.
Suspension and Handling
With an almost perfect weight balance, ultra-wide track of 1850mm, Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) that ‘reads’ the road 1000 times per second, electronic rear differential, Normal and Sport driving modes, and 19-inch forged alloy wheels, the Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Pro will heighten the senses and get the adrenaline flowing, on the road and racetrack.
We will be featuring the Toyota GR Supra shortly on our official YouTube Channel.
