Now into its eighth generation, the new Toyota Camry Hybrid has never looked more modern and it is now more dynamic than ever before without sacrificing its soft, quiet, and comfortable cruising capabilities.
Aside from being a touch more powerful, Toyota has improved the internal layout of the Camry Hybrid by moving the battery for the hybrid engine from the boot to beneath the back seat to take up less boot space. Propelled by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine aided by a state-of-the-art hybrid electric motor/battery system, the combined maximum output is 214 bhp. The e-CVT transmission is a perfect fit with its smooth and quiet character and fuel-saving capability. The drive mode select function has three modes: Eco, Normal and Sport and there is also an EV drive mode switch to move around using electrical energy only.
Safety in the Camry Hybrid also gets a big boost with a full complement of Toyota Safety Sense P features including pre-crash safety system (collision avoidance type), lane departure alert with steering control, radar cruise control (all vehicle speed following function) and automatic high beam.
Long-time Camry Hybrid aficionados will immediately notice the improvement in materials in the cabin. The dash, door trims and centre console showcase a higher quality finish while real stitching to the padded dash lifts the appearance of the interior.
Speaking of the interior, the Camry Hybrid is roomy for a medium car. With a wheelbase of 2820mm, all occupants enjoy comfort, especially on long trips.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid G has the following key features: LED headlights (bi-beam), LED front fog lights, LED rear combination taillights, LED high-mount stop light, LED side turn lights attached to retractable door mirrors, automatic anti-glare inner mirror, seven airbags including driver’s kneebag, genuine leather and piano black steering wheel, driver’s 8-way power seat, Optitron 2 eye meters and 17-inch silver-painted alloy wheels with 215/55 R17 tyres.
