History of Rolls-Royce Cullinan
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a luxury full-size SUV produced by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and was the brand’s first four-wheel-drive SUV vehicle. It sits above the Ghost and below the Phantom and was revealed at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in May 2018.
The Cullinan came about due to competitors such as Bentley and Lamborghini venturing into the SUV business. Rolls-Royce’s CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show that their first SUV vehicle is in the works and will be unveiled in 2018.
Its name was confirmed by the British brand on February 13, 2018, and named after the largest diamond ever found, weighing 3100 carats, the Cullinan.
The Cullinan’s exterior styling comes from the new-look eighth-generation Rolls-Royce Phantoms and other British SUVs, such as the front grille and headlights. Inside, new leather seats and wood trims are deployed from the luggage compartment with a glass partition between the passenger compartment.
It also features different driving modes and a dynamic suspension system to unleash its full potential and changes its height by 40 mm. The United States remains the largest market for the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, followed by China.
