The everyday sports car. That is what the Porsche 911 Carrera S PDK has been referred to and it is absolutely the truth. This iconic two-door coupe is now into its eighth generation (internal designation: 992) and it packs even more new tech, with even more performance.
Like its predecessors, the latest Porsche 911 Carrera S PDK retains that unmistakable silhouette which makes it instantly recognisable, however, its distinctive exterior features also make it stand out from previous models.
The wider rear arches, larger wheels at the rear than the front, bigger exhaust tailpipes and full-length rear light bar with integrated “PORSCHE” lettering are the more noteworthy of these features.
Inside its sporty cabin, the straighter dashboard harks back to the one found in the classic 911 while the instrument cluster consists of a centrally mounted analogue tachometer flanked by two 7-inch digital displays.
To assist with driving stability when the roads are wet, a new Wet Mode is incorporated in the latest Porsche 911 Carrera S PDK. When acoustic sensors in the front wheel housing detect swirled-up spray water, a warning is shown on the display next to the tachometer. This recommends the driver to switch on Wet Mode. When switched on, various systems such as Porsche Stability Management (PSM), variable rear spoiler, throttle responsiveness and gearbox shift strategy are all adapted to guarantee optimum driving stability.
Engine and Performance
Our Porsche 911 Carrera S PDK sits just above the 911 Carrera in the 911 hierarchy. The twin-turbocharged 3-litre flat-6 engine sends a maximum of 444 hp and 530 Nm to the rear wheels via the 8-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Put the pedal to the metal and 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.7 seconds while top speed is 308 km/h.
Equipment highlights include 20-inch (front) and 21-inch Carrera S light alloy wheels, SPORT button, LED headlights including daytime running lights with 4-point LED spotlights, auto-deploying rear spoiler, Porsche Entry & Drive, electric sports seats (14-way memory) and 10.9-inch centre display with Porsche Communication Management (PCM), navigation and Apple CarPlay.
