History of Mercedes-Benz V300d Extra Long AMG Line

With the growing market of shuttle vans made by other automakers, Mercedes-Benz decided to take their step in 1996 and introduced the V-Class. Carrying the standard panel van for cargo with passenger accommodations, the German automaker called it Vito. 

Now on its third generation, the present V-Class comprises a long-wheelbase model and is upgraded into a compact and extra-long variant. Its production began in 2014 at the factory plant in Vitoria, Spain, extending its production in Argentina and Fúzhōu, China, in 2016.

It displays a square-look bodywork as a homage to the utilitarian purpose of the MPV. While its front side appears to be sloped, and the front fascia was designed to have a familiar car-like bumper with headlights inspired by the E-Class.

The V-Class has a concept of a family car, providing style, comfort, and spaciousness. Specifically, the V300d Extra Long AMG Line took a unique path from its class and presented a more limousine-like vehicle with a higher and bolder stance. 

Gearing away from its predecessor’s utility car concept, the latest V300d received a facelift and upgraded its exterior profile, starting from its grille with chrome pins and newly designed, bigger wheels. Wearing the AMG Line trim, the V300d delivers a more dynamic and sportier styling and performance. 

This five-door MPV is an absolute star when it comes to safety features. In 2014, the V-Class topped the Euro NCAP Crash Test, earning the title of the most revolutionary vehicle in its class. Additionally, the equipped powertrain in the V300d comes with 9G-TRONIC PLUS (A) transmission, which features a hydrodynamic torque converter.

The V-Class comes in three lengths: compact (4895 mm), long (5140 mm), and extra-long (5370 mm). Each possesses a refined and high-quality interior design that can luxuriously seat up to a maximum of 8 passengers. It recorded a strong demand in Germany in 2019, while its sales in China continue to grow, making it one of the most important markets outside Europe.
