Faced with a growing market for shuttle vans from other automakers, Mercedes-Benz decided to take the plunge in 1996 and introduced the V-Class. The German automaker called it the Vito, a standard panel van for transporting goods with passenger seating. 

Today’s V-Class is the third generation and consists of a long-wheelbase model that has been expanded into a compact and an extra-long variant. Its production began in 2014 at the plant in Vitoria, Spain, and was expanded to Argentina and Fúzhōu, China, in 2016.

The angular body pays homage to the MPV’s practical purpose. The front of the vehicle appears to be angled, and the front end was designed to resemble a car with its bumper and headlights inspired by the E-Class.

The V-Class has the concept of a family car that offers style, comfort and spaciousness. Specifically, the V220d Extra Long AMG Line took a unique approach in its class, presenting a more limousine-like vehicle with a higher and bolder stance. 

The new V220d has moved away from the utility vehicle concept of its predecessor and received a facelift that upgrades its exterior profile, starting with the grille with chrome tips and redesigned, larger wheels. Its AMG Line trim level and Brabus design aesthetics offer more dynamic and sporty styling. 

This five-door MPV is an absolute star when it comes to safety features. In 2014, the V-Class won the Euro NCAP crash test, making it the most revolutionary vehicle in its class. In addition, the V220d is equipped with the 9G- TRONIC PLUS (A) transmission, which features a hydrodynamic torque converter.

The V-Class is available in three lengths: compact (4895 mm), long (5140 mm), and extra-long (5370 mm). All feature a refined and premium interior design and offer luxurious seating for up to 8 passengers. In 2019, it saw strong demand in Germany, while its sales in China continue to grow, making it one of the most important markets outside Europe.
