Exterior
The newly facelifted Mercedes GLC-Class offers drivers a premium crossover with a refreshed look and a whole lot more tech.
From the outside, the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4MATIC AMG sports fluted inserts at the front while the lower bumper has three, small rectangular sections.
The corner intakes are also more rectangular. LED headlights are standard on the GLC, and the lamps have a smaller, more angular shape.
At the rear, the taillights feature rectangular lamps and the unmistakable integrated exhausts have a sharper, trapezoidal outline.
Technology
Inside, the key enhancement is the optional MBUX system that consists of a digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen in a wide bezel that spans the dashboard.
It combines touchscreen multimedia displays, intelligent voice control via the talk button or the “Hey Mercedes” prompt, and connectivity to bring the new GLC in line with the latest technological standards.
Another new addition to the cabin: KEYLESS-GO start function using the cool, turbine-look start-stop button.
Engine and Performance
For the drivetrain, the new GLC is propelled by Mercedes-Benz’s latest M 264 2-litre 4-cylinder engine that offers improved output at much lower fuel consumption.
Its main components are CAMTRONIC variable valve control, a twin-scroll turbocharger and an additional EQ Boost 48-volt mild hybrid system with a belt-driven starter- generator.
The system permits important hybrid functions such as energy recovery (up to 10 kW of energy), boost, and “sailing” (with the engine switched off).
The Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4MATIC AMG Line has 255 hp and 370 Nm on tap and with the aid of EQ Boost and slick-shifting 9G-TRONIC PLUS transmission, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. The top speed is 240 km/h.
Comfort Features and Key Equipment Specifications
Key equipment highlights are AMG parts such as body styling, 19-inch 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels and floormats.
Elsewhere, the diamond grille, two chrome-plated tailpipes, Direct-Steer speed-sensitive steering and sports suspension are other noteworthy features.
