The newly facelifted Mercedes GLC200 SUV offers drivers a premium crossover with a refreshed look and a whole lot more tech. The updated SUV sports fluted inserts at the front while the lower bumper has three, small rectangular sections. Further, corner intakes are also more rectangular.
Next to it, LED headlights are standard on the GLC, and the lamps have a smaller, more angular shape. In addition, at the rear, the taillights feature rectangular lamps and the unmistakable integrated exhausts have a sharper, trapezoidal outline.
Inside, the key enhancement is the MBUX system that has a digital instrument cluster. Moreover, the infotainment screen in a wide bezel that spans the dashboard. It combines touchscreen multimedia displays, intelligent voice control via the talk button, or the “Hey Mercedes” prompt and connectivity too.
These features bring the new Mercedes-Benz GLC200 SUV in line with the latest technological standards. More importantly, the new addition to the cabin: keyless start using the cool and turbine-look start-stop button.
Engine and Performance
For the drivetrain, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC200 SUV is propelled by the latest M 264 2-liter 4-cylinder. This means that the engine offers improved output at much lower fuel consumption. Also, the main components are CAMTRONIC variable valve control, and a twin-scroll turbocharger.
Added to this, is the EQ Boost 48-volt mild hybrid system with a belt-driven starter- generator. The system also permits important hybrid functions such as energy recovery (up to 10 kW of energy), boost, and “sailing” (with the engine switched off).
The Mercedes-Benz GLC200 SUV might be the entry-level variant but its turbocharged 2-litre 4-cylinder engine has 194 hp and 320 Nm on tap. Added to this, is the aid of EQ Boost and slick-shifting 9G-TRONIC PLUS transmission, and acceleration is brisk – that is from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
Handling and stability are also aided by Electronic Stability Program, Agility Control Suspension with selectable damping. Furthermore, it has excellent Dynamic Select with a choice of pre-programmed driving modes.
Comfort Features and Key Equipment Specifications
Key pieces of equipment are Black-Ash open-pore wood trim and 19-inch bi-colour alloy wheels. Further features are EASY-PACK tailgate with electrically operated opening and closing function.
In addition, it has a Parking Package with PARKTRONIC, Active Parking Assist and a 360-degree camera. Importantly, there is a Seat Comfort Package (front) with three memory settings for seats and side mirrors. Also, there are additional adjustments for the headrest, seat cushion, and steering wheel.
