The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, also known as the Gelandewagen and G-Wagen, is one of the most iconic SUVs ever made. Meet the new Mercedes-Benz G350D AMG LINE PREMIUM!
It has been around for over 35 years thus making it the oldest Mercedes-Benz model.
The second-generation G-Class (W463) was launched in early 2019 at the North American International Auto Show.
In contrast to its predecessor, the new G-Class has grown in width by 121mm and 53mm in length and now has 6mm more ground clearance.
Compared to the previous model with the same engine, the weight savings are around 170kg. Despite all this, both generations are very similar visually hence the model code W463 was retained.
Due to the age of the basic concept of the previous generation G-Class, the technical changes are significant.
Among other things, the front axle now has independent suspension instead of a rigid axle; the rear axle remains solid.
The low range gear ratio was shortened from 2.1: 1 to 2.9: 1. The new model now has the familiar digital cockpit from the S-Class.
Engine and Performance
The Mercedes-Benz G350D AMG LINE PREMIUM is propelled by a 3-litre 6-cylinder 282 hp turbo-diesel engine mated to a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.
It can send all 600 Nm of torque to the four wheels via the 4MATIC permanent four-wheel-drive system with three 100% locking differentials.
Performance vital statistics are – 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.
Comfort Features and Key Equipment Specifications
As this SUV sports the AMG trim, it is equipped with 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, AMG body styling with flared wheel arches, AMG Line leather upholstery, and AMG floormats.
Other highlights include the widescreen cockpit with dual 12.3-inch displays, smartphone integration comprising Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Exterior Styling Package, and Premium equipment line goodies.

“…To be honest the feeling of overt flashiness only lasted a day or so… and now I’m totally won over. I love the way it looks, its big arches and flat glasswork. I love getting in, using the pushbutton door handles that make a loud ‘clack’.”
