The new Mercedes-Benz E200 Saloon Avantgarde Premium is one of the finest models from the E-class. The fifth-generation Mercedes E-Class (W213) has design cues from the larger S-Class and the smaller C-Class and it shares its design language with its predecessor, the W212 E-Class.
Size-wise, the W213 E-Class grew 43 mm in length to 4923 mm while its wheelbase was also extended by 65 mm. It is marginally narrower (2 mm) and 6 mm lower than its predecessor.
Despite being larger overall, the increased amount of high-strength steel and aluminium used in its construction has resulted in the car being up to 100 kg lighter as well.
Fresh from a mid-life facelift, the latest E-Class sports a new low and fresh technology.
Exterior-wise, the headlights are slimmer with sleeker full LEDs and a downward sloping grille while the rear features a distinctive shape and updated light fixtures that mimic those of the A-Class and CLA-Class.
The cabin is closer to the S-Class in the areas of comfort, luxury and connectivity and a new MBUX infotainment display with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a corresponding 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster catches the attention immediately.
Also new is the COMAND Online system’s touchpad in the centre console and fresh upholstery options on every trim.
What adds up to its technology and comfort is its glass sunroof that will accompany you to a more enjoyable ride any time of the day.
Engine and Performance
Our Mercedes-Benz E200 Saloon Avantgarde Premium is powered by the turbocharged 2-litre, 4-cylinder engine which is found on many of the brand’s models and is rated at 181 hp and 300 Nm.
Mated to another Mercedes-Benz favourite, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission (with steering column-mounted paddle shifters), which sends drive to the rear wheels, the 0 to 100 km/h dash is dispatched in 7.7 seconds while top speed is 240 km/h.
Comfort Features and Key Equipment Specifications
As it comes with the AMG Premium package, you can expect sporty items from Mercedes-AMG, the brand’s high-performance subsidiary, such as AMG body styling components.
This also includes the AMG steering wheel in 3-spoke design and trimmed in black Nappa leather with flattened bottom and 19-inch AMG alloy wheels.
Other equipment highlights are the ambient 64-colour lighting, Seat Comfort package, wireless charging, twin-tailpipe exhaust system (integrated into the rear bumper), front brake callipers with “Mercedes-Benz” lettering and AGILITY CONTROL suspension.
