The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Saloon shares the same, front-wheel drive MFA2 (Modular Front Architecture) platform as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatchback – the wheelbase of both cars is 2729mm. However, as the A-Class Saloon has a proper boot with bootlid, it’s 130mm longer than its hatchback sibling.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Saloon shares the same cabin design and features with A-Class Hatchback and CLA-Class Coupe. This means aerospace-inspired, turbine-look air vents, multi-colour ambient lighting and the fabulous Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with its dual 10.25-inch touchscreens and “Hey Mercedes” command which once used will allow you to request for assistance or information.
Our Mercedes-Benz A-Class Saloon variant shown here is the A200 Saloon AMG Premium.
Powered by a turbocharged 1.3-litre 4-cylinder powerplant, with 163 hp and 250 Nm, which is connected to a 7-speed 7G-DCT gearbox driving the front wheels, the saloon takes just 8 seconds to zoom from 0 to 100 km/h. Keep your right foot floored and watch the speedometer’s needle swing all the way to 225 km/h!
The Mercedes-Benz A200 Saloon AMG Premium’s key features ARTICO leather/DINAMICA microfibre with red contrast stitching, Direct Steer system and AMG-specific parts – bodystyling, floormats with red-stitched edging and “AMG” lettering, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Also included are the Premium and Executive equipment line packages including illuminated door sills, 64-colour ambient lighting, Mirror package, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and rear armrest.
