The fourth-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatchback (codenamed W177) improves on many areas when compared to its predecessor and it’s one of the best hatchbacks available. Built on the front-wheel drive MFA2 (Modular Front Architecture) platform, which is also used in the A-Class Saloon and CLA-Class Coupe, its wheelbase of 2729mm is 30mm longer than the model it replaced.
Our Mercedes-Benz A200 AMG Line features front MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspension system and propulsion is via the versatile and punchy turbocharged 1.3-litre 4-cylinder powerplant, with 163 hp and 250 Nm, which is connected to a 7-speed 7G-DCT gearbox driving the front wheels. Zero to 100 km/h takes 8 seconds and maximum speed is 223 km/h!
Inside, the highlights are the aerospace-inspired, turbine-look air vents, multi-colour ambient lighting, all-new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with 7-inch driver’s instrumentation and multi-media touchscreens, “Hey Mercedes” voice activation, ARTICO leather/DINAMICA microfibre with red contrast stitching and SEAT COMFORT PACKAGE.
Exterior-wise, the Mercedes-Benz A200 AMG Line is headlined by the AMG bodystyling kit, 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, diamond radiator grille with pins in chrome and silver louvre with chrome insert, lowered sports suspension and twin trapezoidal tailpipes in polished stainless steel.
