It might be the entry-level model but the new Mercedes-AMG E53 Saloon 4MATIC Premium Plus is a true Mercedes-AMG product – visually and technically.
The new model is part of the fifth-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213). In view of this, it has design cues from the larger S-Class and the smaller C-Class.
The comparisons to the facelifted variant of the previous model (W212) are also inevitable.
For instance, the current E-Class is based on the F800 Style’s design language while the W212 E-Class incorporates several design cues from the F800 Style.
The new Mercedes-AMG E53 Saloon 4MATIC Premium Plus is one of three models in the potent AMG range of E-Class Saloons which also includes the super-fast E63 4MATIC+ and E63S 4MATIC+ Saloons.
The trademark Mercedes-AMG model designation comprising two digits identifies it as a member of the AMG family.
Engine and Performance
The new 3-litre 6-cylinder inline engine is rated at 435 hp and 520 Nm combines exhaust gas turbocharger. It also has an additional electrical compressor plus a 48V on-board electrical system.
As for its EQ Boost starter-alternator generator, it delivers an additional 16 kW of output and 250 Nm of torque when necessary.
Not only that, the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable power distribution and further technical wizardry also brings a high degree of AMG Driving Performance.
Lastly, the acceleration from rest to 100 km/h is completed in a swift 4.5 seconds.
Technology
On the outside, this new saloon is instantly recognizable with AMG body styling, 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in black with a high-sheen finish.
It also showcases its AMG dual twin exhaust tailpipes that sing a mesmerizing tune when the revs climb.
Inside its sumptuous cabin, AMG sports seats with AMG badges and AMG-specific upholstery, and AMG 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel in Nappa leather.
Its AMG main menu includes RACETIMER and start-up display and a 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit are just a few of the features that set the car apart from the standard E-Class Saloons.
Comfort Features and Key Equipment Specifications
Our Mercedes-AMG model also comes with the AMG Night Package and Premium Plus Package.
Besides the 19-inch alloy wheels which were mentioned earlier, other special equipment include these items in stylish high-gloss black – arrow-shaped wing signet above “Turbo 4MATIC+” badging, rear bumper chrome trim, and exterior mirror housings.
It also showcases its front apron, radiator grille with Mercedes-Benz “star” and single louvre, and waistline trim strip.
Moreover, if you are one of the music aficionados, you will surely appreciate the Burmester surround sound system that goes together with the KEYLESS-GO Comfort package and panoramic full-glass sunroof comprise the Premium Plus Package.
