Variants of Honda Vezel
History of Honda Vezel 1.5X e:HEV (FM2021)
The Honda Vezel is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Honda over three generations. It was also known as Honda HR-V, and its first generation was based on the Honda Logo. The Honda HR-V was marketed from 1999 to 2006 in Europe, Japan, and select Asia-Pacific markets that features three or five doors. Honda reintroduced the nameplate for the second generation HR-V after a break between 2006 and 2013 and was based on the third-generation Honda Fit. The production for the Japanese market started in late 2013 as the Honda Vezel. In 2015, it was marketed as the HR-V in North America, Australia, Brazil and select Asian markets.
The third generation Vezel was launched on February 18, 2021, and will start its production in April 2021 in Japan. Honda gave a new redesign styling of the new Vezel that replaces its hugely successful predecessor. Its exterior styling is the notable change Honda has made. The new car is cleaner and more angular, with the characteristic upwards side slash of the current model replaced by a straight line connecting the headlights and taillights. Honda lost the ‘Solid Wing Face’ grille bar and retained the basic front graphic with upswept LED headlights connected to a large six-point grille. It is finished in body colour to enhance the sense of unity with the bodystyling. The rear-end sports stylish full-width taillights, with the number plate recess positioned further down.
Honda has also made the roofline more coupe-like by increasing the rear windscreen rake. The trademark hidden rear door handles have been retained, while in Japan, a Play variant is available that adds blue, red and white accents and a contrasting silver or black roof. Inside, the horizontal theme continues with a slim, minimalist dashboard and a full-width air vent design. The corner outlets are set to diffuse the airflow and come with unusually chunky control knobs. Honda ditched the tall bridge-like centre console favouring a more conventional transmission tunnel, with a unique chrome strip that wraps around the driver’s knee area.
The new Vezel also has the latest Honda Connect infotainment system found in the Jazz and City, which come with eight and nine-inch touchscreens. It also continues to feature analogue instruments. The Honda Vezel comes equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and traffic sign recognition, all of which have been improved in terms of performance. It has an e:HEV hybrid powertrain, which uses an electric motor to drive and a petrol engine to charge the battery.
Since its launch, the Honda Vezel was made available in Japan, China and Singapore as a parallel import Vezel. It was marketed as HR-V in North America, Europe, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Brazil.
