Flaunting an innovative LED technology system, the new Honda Freed is equipped with a high-mounted LED stop lamp located in the central high-mounted position at the rear.  It operates when the service brake is activated and notifies the driver trailing behind you.

History of Honda Freed 1.5G Welcab

The Honda Freed, first produced in Japan in 2008, came to market with an innovative concept. Replacing the first-generation Mobilio in Japan, the Honda Freed is a mini MPV based on the Fit/Jazz segment. It was originally designed to meet the needs of Japanese consumers, but later won awards and was delivered internationally. It is best known in neighbouring Southeast Asian countries. 

In the same year, the first generation of the Honda Freed was introduced, which was available in three different versions. Early on, it featured the side-folding seat and the upward-folding passenger seat to allow for greater cargo volume. It also featured low-floor technology and a low centre of gravity, making it attractive to all ages and styles with its modern exterior design, spacious interior and driving dynamics.

The Honda Freed was slightly modified in terms of engine and seating capacity in various Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore where it was offered. The Indonesian market was offered with a 7-seat variant and a 5-speed automatic transmission instead of the CVT in Japan.

The second generation Honda Freed was unveiled in June 2016 and then launched in September 2016. The idea of dynamism and practicality has been brought to life in this latest generation. It is noticeably curvier than its predecessor and now has an updated grille and headlights. The sliding door is still there, but with a few small improvements.

In 2019, the facelifted version of the second-generation Honda Freed was launched. The all-new and well-revised Honda Freed comes with a more powerful engine, premium technology and even more style. It is more robust and efficient with its Honda Sensing technology, propelled by the DOHC i-VTEC In-line 4-cylinder engine, and has a 1496 cc engine capacity, partnered with the i-VTEC technology.

Along with this facelifted version, Honda also stated that a wheelchair-accessible model is offered in addition to versions with a side lift-up seat and passenger lift-up seat. Meanwhile, Japan and Indonesia hold the largest market for the Honda Freed.
