2021 all-electric Honda e Advance: Exterior & Interior Walkaround
History of Honda e Advance
The Honda e is an electric car based on the Urban EV Concept, unveiled at the 2017 International Motor Show in Germany in September 2017. The production version was revealed at the same show in 2019 and is only available as a 5-door model, unlike the Urban UV Concept layout, which is a 3-door hatchback.
In May 2019, the Honda e name was confirmed by the Japanese automaker. It has been styled with a retro look reminiscent of the first-generation Civic and serves as an addition to the electrified technology across its European range by 2025.
The Honda e is an evolution of the 2017 Urban EV Concept with flush-mounted door handles and compact reversing cameras. Its charging port is located in the centre of the bonnet to allow charging from both the left and right. The positive response to the Urban EV Concept led to its approval as a production vehicle.
Designed for the planned urban market, it houses a water-cooled battery pack to achieve a 50/50 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity. Its rear-wheel-drive results in a turning radius of approximately 4.3-4.6 metres and a turning circle of 9.2 metres.
The Honda e Advance has an electric motor in the rear, which offers an output of 152 hp and 315 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds through a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and offers a range of approximately 220 km with a CCS Combo 2 connector.
The interior features an 8.8-inch full-width instrument panel and two large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreens. It is also equipped with the Honda Personal Assistant, which uses machine learning to train its voice recognition and is preceded by the voice command “OK Honda”.
In 2020, Honda made the Honda e available only for the European and Japanese markets. The Japanese carmaker expects to sell about 1,000 units per year in the Japanese market and about 10,000 units in the European market.
