The Ford Ranger Raptor, a full-sized pickup truck, draws its name from both birds of prey and the velociraptor. Developed as a road-legal counterpart of an off-road racing vehicle, the Ranger Raptor is optimised for off-road use. With its four-wheel drive, raised ride height, enhanced chassis, all-terrain tyres and upgraded suspension system, the Ranger Raptor tackles the toughest land with aplomb.
Along with bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels, widened fenders and 150-mm wider track, the Ranger Raptor is visually distinguished by its grille emblem – instead of the Ford Blue Oval, the word “FORD” is proudly emblazoned across the grille (last used by Ford in 1983) as well as the large “RAPTOR” decals on the sides of the cargo bed.
For the latest model year, the Ford Ranger Raptor sits above the Wildtrak appearance package and it is propelled by a 2-litre EcoBlue biturbo diesel engine that churns out 213 PS and more importantly, 500 Nm of earth-shaking torque. Coupled to a tough yet smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, this pickup belies its size and heft when it comes to the century sprint and takes just 10 seconds to complete it.
Our Ford Ranger Raptor is equipped with a host of noteworthy driving and safety features including Terrain Management system with six drive modes, FOX Pro dampers, locking rear differential and seven airbags (driver’s, front passenger’s, side thorax, side curtain and driver’s knee). Inside its spacious cabin, the standout bits are the unique Raptor suede trim, premium leather front seats (with “RAPTOR” logo and Soho Grain leather bolsters), perforated leather sports steering wheels with “RAPTOR” logo, FordPass Connect modem, Ford SYNC 3 with 8-inch touchscreen, second-row benchseat with ISOFIX hardpoints and premium floormats.
