Exterior
This is the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB200 AMG Line Premium. An impressive all-rounder SUV that wears a confident design. The new GLB200 is a premium and proper off-roader that exhibits the distinguished AMG package.
The first-ever Mercedes GLB-Class was unveiled in June 2019 in Utah, USA, and it is positioned between the GLA-Class and GLC-Class.
The eagerly awaited luxury subcompact SUV (codenamed X247) uses the same platform as the GLA but the wheelbase has been stretched by 100 mm to give it extra room and practicality.
The GLB200 is instantly recognizable, thanks to its unique headlight design, black cladding, roof rails, and simulated underride guard.
Fitted with AMG Line parts such as AMG body styling and eye-catching 19-inch AMG alloy wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design, it looks racy even when it is standing still.
Interior
At 4.63 m long, the wheelbase is less than an inch shorter than the larger GLC, and it has three rows of seats, thanks to clever space distribution.
The GLB200’s silhouette is squarish and more angular, like the GLS-Class, and as a result of its box-like shape, the headroom is optimized.
Inside the cabin is the epitome of spacious elegance with the widescreen digital cockpit, ambient lighting, and other distinctive Mercedes-Benz SUV elements.
Engine and Performance
Our Mercedes-Benz GLB200 AMG Line Premium is powered by a turbocharged 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 7G-DCT (7-speed) gearbox equipped with paddle shifters.
With 163 hp and 250 Nm on tap (the latter from just 1620 rpm), this crossover maxes out at 201 km/h while the century dash is completed in 9.1 seconds.
Technology
Choose from the touchscreen, direct control buttons (media, navigation, and telephone), touch control buttons on the steering wheel, the center console-mounted touchscreen, or extended voice recognition.
The new MBUX system is extremely versatile and easy to use and also includes a smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) with wireless charging.
The way the GLB200 drives can also be tuned with DYNAMIC SELECT.
At the press of a button, different drive programs (Sport, Comfort, or Eco) can be selected. Each has its own, pre-set engine, transmission, and steering settings.
Comfort Features and Key Equipment
Also included in the Premium Package which consists of a host of features – 10.25-inch digital cluster and touchscreen display, 64-colour ambient lighting, illuminated door sill panels.
Under the body, suspension duties are ably taken care of by a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear configuration which offers a high level of comfort while tackling light bends with a sporty flair.
