1. Polestar, Volvo Car Group’s performance brand, recently revealed its future as a new standalone electric performance brand. Polestar also unveiled the 600 hp Polestar 1, the company’s first car, which is set to roll off the production line in mid-2019. It’s a two-door, 2+2 seat Grand Tourer Coupe with an “Electric Performance Hybrid” drivetrain and a range of 150 km on pure electric power alone, the longest full electric range of any hybrid car on the market.
2. Audi has unveiled the all-new Audi A7 Sportback. The five-door coupe embodies progressive design and technology and will be initially available with the 3.0 TFSI V6 petrol engine with 340 PS and 500 Nm. Designed to be a Grand Tourer with enhanced handling and improved long-distance comfort, it features an all-digital control system, comprehensive connectivity and mild hybrid technology.
3. Mazda showcased its KAI CONCEPT at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Featuring the next-generation SKYACTIV-X petrol engine, SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture and a more mature expression of the KODO design language, the KAI CONCEPT sports refinements in all areas of dynamic performance which have resulted in a considerably quieter, more comfortable ride and enhanced performance.
4. GKN Driveline utilised expertise from its motorsport team worked with the SRT engineering team to strengthen the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s driveline, upgrading the rear halfshafts and propshaft to deliver the extreme torque required to propel the more than 5300 pound SUV from 0-60 mph (approximately 96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds. The world’s most powerful SUV sports a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine which produces staggering 645 lb-ft of torque.
